Eugene Boyd Cypert Sr.
May 31, 1927 ~ October 8, 2018

Eugene Boyd Cypert, Sr., age 91, of Fayetteville passed away October 8, 2018 in Fayetteville. He was born May 31, 1927 in Fayetteville, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Leona Bell Cypert. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years Mary Ann Yoes Cypert and a sister Carolyn.

Gene gave of himself in many ways to his community and to his fellow man. He did this privately and through various organizations. He was a lifetime member of the Lions Club and sat on the board of the Salvation Army for many years. Gene did not like his good deeds to be known, but they occupied most of his days.

He did love golf and would let others tell you he had three holes-in-one and at 72 shot his age. Golf was his Zen. A foursome was pretty close communion and he loved Arnold Palmer. Gene also took joy in simple people, anything chocolate, children, dogs and cats. Still, at every Thanksgiving, his prayer made clear that he was most thankful for his family. And we knew it.

He is survived by his son Eugene B. Cypert, Jr. "Sandy"; a daughter Robin King and husband Bill; two grandsons William King III and his wife Sarah of New York City and Joshua Campbell King and his wife Julie of Nashville, Tennessee; two great granddaughters Summer and Anais of New York City; two great grandsons McLellan and Elliot of Nashville; cousins Betty Lou Cypert Van Zandt of Boulder, Colorado; and his love Rhea Dunegan of Fayetteville.

We offer greatest gratitude and love to Andy King, Shirley Dixon, Michelle Hartman, Kim Gulledge, Tracey Hollingsworth, Virginia Scheuer and Johnie Nelson for their unwavering love and care for Gene. We would also like to thank the staff, nurses, CAN's and kitchen at Butterfield Healthcare who brought smiles each day to his face and heart.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Washington Regional Hospice, St. Paul's Episcopal Church Discretionary Fund or the Salvation Army Christmas Fund.

Cremation under the direction of Moore's Chapel.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday November 4, 2018 in the convocation room at Butterfield Trail Village. Suzanne Stoner, Associate Rector, St. Paul's Episcopal Church is officiating.
