Memorial services for Jo Ann Cutting, 71, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 7 at the Faith Heritage Church, Lone Grove, with Leo Potts officiating.
Born May 26, 1937 in Powell, the daughter of William Henry and Gladys McAlester Rushing, she died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 in the Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.
Raised in Powell, she later moved to Marietta, where she graduated from Marietta High School in 1955. Mrs. Cutting received a business degree in 1959 from the University of Southeastern Oklahoma. She moved to Bentley, Kansas in 1960, where she taught high school for about 10 years. She and James Cutting were married April 30, 1960 in Wichita, Kansas, and he preceded her in death on January 28, 1998. In 1977 Mrs. Cutting moved to Lebanon and worked at the Marietta Bakery until 1980. She worked at the REA in Marietta and retired in 2004 after 20 years. Mrs. Cutting loved her family most of all. She also loved nature and animals.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dedra and Gary Glover of Lone Grove; a granddaughter, Katie Glover of Lone Grove; step-grandchildren, Gary and Amber Wayne of Dickson and Jamie Roberts of Stillwater; step-great-grandchildren, Logan, Landon and Emily; nephews, Jason Barber of Burneyville, Alan Rushing of Marietta, Mark Rushing of Madill and Stacy Rushing of Lebanon; nieces, Jodi and Greg Wesley of Lone Grove, Laura Rushing of Madill, Patsy Rushing of Dallas and Deanna Rushing of Tulsa; a brother, John Rushing of Lebanon; uncles, Bobby Gene, Charlie and Dwain Rushing of Lebanon; special friend, Wanda Smith of Marietta; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Reta Brito.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Ardmore Animal Shelter.
