John Leonard Cushing was born on October 25, 1957 and departed this life on August 19, 2023.
John was born to Leonard John Cushing and Martha Jane (Alley) Cushing in Stroud, Oklahoma. He spent most of his childhood there and graduated from Stroud High School in 1976. On November 9, 1984 he married Patricia Melson in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and later had two Children, Rachel and JohnJohn. After high school, he began his professional career as a Horse Jockey and during that time he earned several accolades until his retirement in 2012. John loved horses and raced on tracks up and down the East and West Coast.
He also went to college and earned two associate degrees in computer science. John was passionate and was not afraid to voice his opinion. He always loved to tell a good story.
John is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Martha Cushing and his brother Joseph Peter Cushing.
John leaves behind his wife Patricia Cushing; his daughter Rachel Cushing; his son John Cushing II; grandchildren Madison Labus, Blakely Corbin and Gracelynn Cushing; as well as many extended family and a host of friends.
