Graveside services for E.W. Cushenbery, 80, of Athens, Texas, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Hardtner-Eleanor Cemetery in Hardtner, Kansas.
Mr. Cushenbery passed away October 1, 2021, in Athens, Texas.
Elisha William Cushenbery was born September 11, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Glenn William "Bud" Cushenbery and Arloa Mae (Webb) Cushenbery. He served in the United States Navy during the 1960s. For the past 15 years, he worked for Walmart DC 6036 in Palestine, Texas, and prior to that worked for Lonestar Steel in Longview, Texas, for 30 years. He enjoyed old cars, history, antiques and had an extensive coin collection. E.W. will be remembered as a steadfast man who always did whatever it took to provide for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judithe Ann (Mills) Cushenbery; and sisters, Maryona Morris and Peggy Cushenbery.
Survivors include children Kirk McFarland and wife Rhonda (of Longview, Texas), Kelly McFarland and wife Leanne (of Colorado), Niki Wigington (of Oklahoma City), John Cushenbery and wife Shiela (of Athens, Texas), Julie Cushenbery (of Athens, Texas), Larry Cushenbery and wife Shannon (of Longview, Texas); siblings Glenna Ewing and husband Terry (of Alva), Harold Cushenbery and wife Ann (of Alva), Eddie Cushenbery and wife LaDonna (of Alva), David Grant and wife Sanza (of Hardtner, Kansas); grandchildren Brandon McFarland, Laura and Jonah Boaz, Misty and Paul Mendoza, Mary and Nicholas Higgs, Melissa and Bryson Wiler, Kyle McFarland and wife Meaghan, Brayden and Amanda Wigington, Jordan and Ryan Post, Taylor and David Lister, Felicia and Garrett Lawler, Damion and Kaitlyn Moore, Kierra Hicks, Devon Morrow, Chase Cushenbery, Madyson Cushenbery; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 7, 2021, 6-8 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens, Texas.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
