Gerald Maurice Current

A Private family memorial service for Gerald Maurice Current, 83, of Ada will be held at a later date.

Mr. Current passed away at his home Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He was born August 21, 1934 at the Hart Community, west of Lightning Ridge to Maurice and Mildred Guest Current. He attended Ada schools.

He married Mary Reeves Luke November 12, 1977. She preceded him in death April 19, 2009. Mr. Current was a welder and previous owner and co-founder of C & H Tool Company here in Ada.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynne Chatfield and her husband Bruce of Ada and Kathy Gulley and her husband John of Memphis, TN; his grandchildren, Ryan Post, Casey Gillum and husband Corey, and Kelly Hobbs and husband Nathan; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Maggie Hobbs; two sisters, Kay Callaway of Ada; and Georgia Myers of Ada; brother, Lonnie Current and wife Carol of Eufaula; his nieces and nephews, Sidney Myers, Linda Scott, Lori DePriest, Tracy Balthrop, DeAnn Jones, Amy Current-McAlester, and Jeff Current; many great nieces and nephews; and his dog, Buddy the Chihuahua.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife; granddaughter, Lindsey Post; and a nephew, Joe Myers.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to cancer research or the American Heart Association in memory of Gerald Current.
