Shirley Marie Tuma Cunningham 68, passed away on August 10, 2015 in Norman. She was born on November 9, 1946 in Oklahoma City. She spent her childhood in Norman, where she graduated from Norman High School in 1965. After attending OU, Shirley moved to San Diego, CA. She spent the next 20 years working first as a supervisor for Pacific Bell and then as a computer service representative. She then purchased and operated her own small business, Mail Boxes Etc, with her husband. In 1995 they sold the business and retired back home to Norman.
Shirley valued family and friends most of all, and derived her greatest pleasures in life from her cats, feeding & watching her backyard birds, working in the yard, and continuing with her artistic talent that was discovered at an early age. She was a friend, sister, aunt, and a particularly supportive grandmother to her grandson Ben.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Alan McFarland II of Kansas City, Mo; sister, Betty Whitehead of Houston Texas, 3 grandchildren and one nephew.. She was preceded in death by her husband, Craig Alden Cunningham and parents, Gerald Tuma and Eunice Furr Tuma.
A private graveside funeral service will take place sometime in the future.
