Mary Christine Cunningham

Mary Christine Cunningham
Dec 25, 1936 ~ January 2, 2019

Cunningham, Mary Christine "Christine". Age 82 passed away on January 2, 2019.

Christine is survived by her husband of 64 years, F. Xilon Cunningham, whom she met in grade school, dated in high school and married on her 18th birthday (Christmas Day).

She is also survived by her son, Xilon E. Cunningham; daughter-in-law, Lisa; beloved twin grandchildren, William and Olivia; sister, Louise (Delacey) Smith; brothers-in-law Garry (Sheila), Larry (Kathy), and Edward (Debbie); sisters-in-law Neva Cunningham and Bette Cunningham; dear nieces and nephews; special friends Peggy and Robert Turner of Memphis, TN, Mary Skeen of Greenville, MS, and Jenny and Gerry DelFiacco of West St. Paul, MN; and many more loving relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Felma DeLapp of Bartlesville, OK; her brother, Clarence Eugene "Gene" DeLapp; and her brothers-in-law L. Cordell Cunningham and Lynn Cunningham.

Born and raised on a farm near Bartlesville, OK, Christine spent her adult life in Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Texas, Mississippi and Minnesota. Christine and her husband had many adventures traveling with their son while he was growing up. Her favorite roles in life were as a loving wife, a proud mother, and a bursting-with-pride grandmother. She and her husband were active members of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville, MS. Christine also was a darned good baker of pies, cookies and other sweets, which she absolutely loved making for and with her grandchildren. She volunteered often through church and other organizations, and prior to retirement, she worked for a time as a school aide and bus driver.

Christine was loved by many people but carried throughout her life a belief that she was a less than worthwhile human being. In reality, she was a beautiful and loving soul of infinite worth and goodness. We, her family, believe that she is now soaring through the universe with joy, fully aware of the truth. Dear reader of this obituary, if you ever doubt your worth, we want you to know that, like Christine, you are more glorious than the brightest stars in the sky.

Funeral Services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Klecatsky & Sons Eagan Chapel, 1580 Century Point, Eagan, Minnesota, 55121, with Wake one hour prior to the Funeral Service.

Christine's family gives special thanks to the staff of Our Lady of Peace Hospice, Bethesda Acute Care Hospital, and United Hospital (all of St. Paul, MN) and to the staff of the Mayo Clinic outpatient dialysis center in Rochester, MN, for their compassionate care.

Memorials preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice.
