Jimmie Ray Cummings

Jimmie Ray Cummings
February 16, 1937 ~ January 8, 2025

Jimmie Ray Cummings was born February 16, 1937, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Oliver James Cummings and Thelma Alice (Rattan) Cummings. He left this world on January 8, 2025, in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 87.

One of seven children, Jimmie is preceded in death by both parents; three brothers, Floyd Cummings, Roy Cummings, and Darrell Cummings; and one sister, Mildred Cummings Childers. He is survived by two sisters, Colleen Cummings Dixon and Christine Cummings Mallonee, both of Chandler, Oklahoma.

Jimmie served with the 25th Infantry Division, United States Army at Schofield Barracks Hawaii from 1959 through 1961 as a Communications Specialist. He later served in the 1st Battalion 160th Field Artillery Regiment, Oklahoma Army National Guard.

Jimmie married Morene Wilson of Chandler on May 23, 1963. They had three children, Jimmie Ray Cummings, Jr., Tacie Louise Cummings Stiner, and Rafe Cummings, all of Chandler. An addition to the family came when Rick Nicol moved into the home as a teenager in 1980. Later in life, Jimmie became stepfather to Amber Berry of Davenport, Oklahoma, whom he felt very blessed to have raised.

Jim leaves behind lots of grandchildren, words of wisdom, and many anecdotal observations!
