Emalee Tom "Tommie" (Parks) Cummings

Emalee Tom "Tommie" (Parks) Cummings
Apr 5, 1918 ~ Feb 28, 2017

Emalee Tom Cummings (nearly 99 years old, although she planned to live to be 100 years old) passed away February 28, 2017.

The family requests private family services. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.

Emalee "Tommie" was born April 5, 1918 in Alix, Arkansas in a family of seven brothers and sisters to Malla Kire Parks and Lourana Creekmore Parks. She was the wife of Lawrence Cummings and was blessed with three children; Tom Dixon, Lawrence Jr. and Loyce Akers. She was a very progressive woman for her time. Her occupations range from working at a bank and cashing a million dollar check to riding a bicycle delivering mail for the post office. She was one of the first six women ever hired by Henry Ford personally and later on in life she became a welder, being one of the first Rosie the Riveters during WWII. She was a very tenacious and feisty lady.

She is survived by her daughter, Loyce Akers and step-daughter, La Donna Welch, sister, Mary Zetta Duncan, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was loved by each and every one of us and will be greatly missed by all!

Online condolences for the family can be made at www.walkerbrownfuneralhome.com.
