Wayne J. Crow

January 28, 1935 ~ January 5, 2009

Wayne J. Crow, 73, of Abilene, died Monday, January 5, 2009 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. Rev. Stan Allicorn, Dr. Jeff Reid and Rev. Jack Ridlehoover will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas.

Wayne was born January 28, 1935 in Moorewood, Oklahoma to Elmer Wallace Crow and Sarah Melinda Jane Jackson Crow.

He served in the United States Air Force and moved to Abilene in January of 1961.

Wayne married Ica Mae Scales in Abilene on August 4, 1962.

He owned and operated Wayne Crow Painting Company for 45 years.

He was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bobby Crow, Fred W. Crow and Gayle E. Crow; and one sister, Helen DeRamus.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Ica Mae Crow of Abilene; three sons, Barry Wayne Crow and his wife Paula of Abilene; Steven Michael Crow and his wife Sonya of Lubbock; Heath Jackson Crow and his wife Brooke of Abilene; seven grandchildren, Jessica Bryce Crow, Lindsey Aleese Crow, Laura Leigh Crow, Sarah Elizabeth Crow, Suzanne Alexandra Crow, Nathanial Louis Crow and Nani Wayne Crow; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Larry Felty, John Holton, John Vedro, Jerry Sullivan, Jack Rosser and Frank Boyles will serve as pallbearers.

Wayne was deeply devoted to his family, friends and church.

He coached baseball, was a deacon, led R.A.'s and Webelos.

He was a fair and honest businessman, boss and partner.

His family and friends will deeply miss his sense of humor and guidance.
