Roy George Cross

Roy George Cross
Oct 6, 1950 ~ Jan 14, 2017

George Cross of Oak Ridge by Hulah Lake rode the highway to Heaven on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the age of 66.

George was born Roy George Cross on October 6, 1950, in Wallace, Idaho, the son of G.P. and Maggie Irene (Moore) Cross. His father was a minister and a mechanic, and the family moved every few years or so to places like California, Texas and many others before settling in Bartlesville.

George started working at a young age and apprenticed in auto body work with a man in Pawhuska. He soon found a job with the City of Bartlesville and after a few years worked his way into the city's auto body shop. Shortly after starting with the city, George met the love of his life Marilyn Fuller and not only found a loving partner but became a father to her three small children. Over his 30 years with the city, George worked on the police cars, fire trucks and all the other city vehicles that needed repair.

George always had a shop at his house - when he moved to a new home a shop was his first priority. He needed the space for his many projects, repairing accidents for family and friends or painting classic cars he was restoring. One memorable job was for Marilyn when her car needed a new paint job and he asked her opinion on what color she wanted, but when it was done George had a chosen a totally different color and she wasn't amused by his choice.

George stayed active every day of his life. George and Marilyn loved to camp and fish together. They belonged to Campers and Friends Club of Hulah Lake. George was a member of the Calvary Community Church in Bowring. George loved to fish with a pole and jug lines. Rabbit hunting was his favorite and the only animal he hunted. He was a loyal Cardinals fan but above all his cars and earthly pastimes, George loved his family and grandchildren and the precious time he spent with them.

George is survived by his wife Marilyn of the home: three children, Kay Wood and Alan Marlow of Caney, Pamela Thomas and John of Ochelata, and Roger Fuller and Diane of Augusta, KS; one sister Helen Gibson of Pawhuska; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Tyler, Heather, Jeff, Sara, Quinten, Ethan and Lianna; three great grandchildren Eli, Parker and Chandler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Floyd Cross and one sister Della Diaz.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11am-8pm at the Davis Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Journey Home, 3406 SE Kentucky Street, Bartlesville, OK 74006.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wed. at the Davis Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bill Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Peru Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared with Georges family at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
