Ellen Kaye Cross
February 5, 1943 ~ November 2, 2022 (age 79)

 Ellen Kaye Cross was born February 5, 1943 to Joseph and Mabel (Mason) Cross. She passed away November 2, 2022 in Davenport at the age of 79.

Over the years, Ellen held many jobs. She was a cook, cashier, bus driver, firefighter EMT and more. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, quilting with her church friends, and family holidays and game nights. Ellen crocheted over 75 sets of layettes for local hospitals. She enjoyed looking at the snow but not the cold. In 2004, Ellen moved from Arizona to South Dakota to be surrounded by family and she welcomed her 1st great-grandchild.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Donald & DeAnna Cross, and nephew Donny Cross. Survivors include her daughter, Mabel (Katie) Cross, son, John Laubach; nieces, Kathy and husband Dave Troll, Lori and her husband Dana Goubeau; grandchildren, KristiAnna Sanchez, Stewart Mackin and wife Laurel, Raymond Mackin and wife Samantha, Franklin Laubach; 9 great-grandchildren who she adored; along with a great-grandchild due in January; and other family and friends.

A celebration will be held Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Cowboys United Church in Chandler on what would have been Ellen’s 85th birthday. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
