Wanda Irene Crauthers passed from this life on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at her home surrounded by family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the First Baptist Church, 625 Santa Fe Rd, Davenport, OK 74026. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Wanda was one of 14 children, born on February 4, 1936 to Ludie (Gilreath) and Floyd Barrett in Davenport, OK. She grew up and attended school in Davenport. After finishing school, Wanda worked as a waitress in a local café and later worked in the hotel business in Albuquerque, NM and Las Vegas, Nevada. While working in Las Vegas, Wanda’s fondest memory was meeting Elvis Presley while working at the hotel.
Wanda married Darrell Crauthers in October of 2009 at Faith Church in Cushing. She was a fun-loving woman who would always speak her mind. Her greatest joy in life was getting on the dance floor. At home she would move furniture out of the living room so she could show her kids her dance moves and every weekend you could find her at the local dance halls.
Wanda was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Ludie and Floyd Barrett, and 11 siblings. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Darrell Crauthers; five children, Russell Branum of Chandler, Connie Knight of Cushing, Teresa Leonard of Las Vegas, Floyd Branum of Oklahoma City, Billy Branum of Wellston; one daughter-in-law, Leslie Branum of Utah; two brothers, Alvi Barrett and Forrest “Frosty” Barrett. Wanda is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
