Sharon Kaye (Barnett) Cox

Sharon Kaye (Barnett) Cox
December 19, 1953 ~ August 13, 2019 (age 65)

Sharon Kaye Cox passed from this life August 13, 2019 in Oklahoma City at the age of 65. She was born December 19, 1953 in Oklahoma City and attended Capitol Hill High School. Sharon was a devoted homemaker to her husband and son. After her son graduated high school, she worked at Kempton Company as a customer service representative for 16 years. She became a dedicated grandmother in 2005 and again in 2010.

Throughout Sharon’s life she loved dirt bike riding, fishing, camping and going to Fort Cobb Lake. Her favorite was floating down the Illinois River. Most activities ended with family and friends laughing and reliving stories around the campfire.

She most recently enjoyed road trips and destination flights with family to Nashville, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Flordia, Route 66 and Tombstone. Her most prized possession was her family and she was happy as long as she was spending time with them, especially at family reunions. Sharon was the life of the party and always kept everyone laughing. In addition, Sharon absolutely loved Halloween. She always went all out in decorating. In the past she would wear costumes, and her home served as a spooky attraction for so many people to visit.

Preceding her in passing are the following; father, Claude Barnett; mother, Leatrice Thomas; step-father, Thurman Thomas; brother, Alan Barnett and half-brother, Jim Barnett.

Survivors include her loving husband of 47 years, Jerry Cox; son, Justin Cox and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Kamry Cox and Mason Cox; sister, Deanna Simon and husband, Alan; nephew, Genarro Olds; great-nephew, Kai Olds; aunt, Margaret Estes; nephews and nieces, Tracy Barnett, Kimberly Barnett, Misty Barnett Jordan Barnett and half-brother Billy Ray Barnett . Sharon is also survived by a host of cousins and other relatives.

A memorial service to honor Sharon’s life will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 24, 2019 in the Chapel at Resthaven, 500 SW 104th St. Oklahoma City, OK 73139.
