Sandra Jean (Rooney) Cox

Sandra Jean (Rooney) Cox
Sept. 10, 1947 ~ Dec. 19, 2010

Sandra Jean (Rooney) Cox went to meet her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at the hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo. Her demise was caused by cardiac arrest, of which she did not recover. She had reached the age of 63, having been born on Sept. 10, 1947, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Hugh J. and Dorothy J. (Redden) Rooney.

She grew up following her father and family to several military bases, where he was employed as a financial officer.

She attended junior high and graduated from Enid High School in 1965, where she made many acquaintances and friends. She later attended Oklahoma State University, where she met and married her husband, Eugene Cox.

After living in several locations in Texas, following the oil field, they settled in Colorado Springs, Colo. She will be best remembered for always putting family and friends first and volunteering and helping every way possible. She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh J. Rooney, in 1986, in Enid, Okla.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene, of the home; daughter, Melissa Trovas and husband John of Colorado Springs and granddaughter, Stephanie, also of Colorado Springs; her mother, Dorothy Rooney Jones and stepfather, Kenneth Jones, of Oklahoma City; sister, Susan (Rooney) Elledge and husband David of Columbia, Mo.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colo.

Arrangements were by Evergreen Funeral Home, Colorado Springs.

A memorial will be held in Colorado Springs at a later date. Condolences may be made at jonesken @ att.net.
