Russell “Rusty” Cox, 64 passed away on March 24,2025 in Collinsville, Oklahoma. Born on March 15th, 1961 in Claremore ,Oklahoma, Rusty lived a life filled with adventure, Kindness, and a deep appreciation and love for the outdoors.
Rusty had a passion for fishing and hunting, spending countless hours in nature where he felt most at peace with the world. Whether casting a line out into a quiet lake, walking the trails at night with his flashlight or tracking game through the woods, he found joy in the simple beauty of the natural world.
His love for the outdoors was matched only by his generosity- he never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, no task was too big for him to tackle for anyone he called friend. Those who knew him will fondly remember his warmth and the way he could captive a audience with his stories, from fairy lights in the wood's to 20 foot tall giraffes in the distance, ufos dancing in the night sky he could always reel you in.
Rusty is survived by his brother James “Butch” Cox; his Children, Christina Cox, William Cox, Ezekiel Cox; and his beloved grandchildren Dreama Johnson, Ocean Cox, Gabriel Cox, Keandre “Bear” Cox, Raymond Cox, Mary Cox, Aiden and Kyler Cox, Hailey Cox, Kelsey Singleton, Christian Cox and Maddison Cox.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rosie and Carl Cox and his brothers Raymond “Skipper” Cox and Carl “Skeeter” Cox.
Beyond his love for nature and family, Rusty had a special bond with his dog and took great pride in caring for her. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him, and great spirit and ancestors guide us through these upcoming times.
Visitation will be noon to 8:00 pm, Thursday, 27, 2025 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be 4:00 pm, Friday at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tim Prock officiating.
Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
