Nicholas Ry Cosner passed away on June 1, 2018 at Mooreland Heritage Manor. Nick was born on December 23, 1979 at Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, OK. Nick spent his childhood with his parents and grandparents playing the drums, collecting marbles, sports cards, and lettering in the following: football, baseball, track, golf, and band for playing the trombone. He excelled in math and aspired to be an oilfield consultant like his grandpa "Red."
Nick spent several years working for Nabor's and Unit Drilling as a derrick hand and driller. Nick was actually afraid of heights and would take time for prayer before each 120-foot ascent. Nick was baptized at age 12 at the Church of Nazarene in Higgins, TX.
Nicholas was united in marriage with Heather Lindsey on July 26, 2002. They had Christopher Ry Cosner in December 2003. Nothing compared in Nick's life, as Christopher was his pride, joy, and "mini-me." He delighted in teaching his son skills from working on cars together, playing music, and fixing stereo systems. Just days before the life altering head trauma, Nick purchased Christopher a miniature graphite golf club set to coach him.
Nick has spent the past 7 years under total medical care after the injury; but his resilience and happy-go-lucky nature was noted by direct nursing staff. His love of music, singing, dancing, and church services were celebrated. One caregiver stated he loved to whistle the "Andy Griffith" tune with her.
In just 30 short years, he had several accomplishments, but the greatest was that of being a true friend. Nick supported, encouraged, housed, and defended many
in his lifetime. Regardless of family plans or even work, Nick was only a
phone call away for a friend in need.
Nicholas was preceded in death by
maternal grandparents Robert "Red" and Doris Perkins, paternal grandparents
Ralph and Erba Cosner, uncle Steve Cosner, and aunt Robin Perkins.
Nicholas is survived by: parents Deborah Perkins, Ralph "Skeeter" Cosner and his wife Lisa; his son Christopher Cosner and siblings Kayla and Alexis; sister Destiny Clark, husband Josh, and their children Levi, Audia, and Elliott; step siblings Chad Wheeler and Ashley Miller; special cousins Misty Marino and John Cargle; as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends known as to him his "brothers" and "sisters."
Memorials may be made to the Pit Bull Ranch Oklahoma, P.O. Box 1314, Blanchard, OK 73010.
