Anna Imogene "Gene" (Carroll) Coskery
December 11, 1909 ~ January 30, 2011 (age 101)

Anna Imogene “Gene” (Carroll) Coskery, 101, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma.  She was born December 11, 1909 in Bakersfield, Missouri to William Adam and Maude (Payne) Carroll.  

Gene began her career as a teacher in 1933 in Blair, Oklahoma and continued for many years in Dale, Oklahoma.  She also taught in Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey before returning to teach at Prague, Oklahoma until retiring in 1972.  Gene traveled  extensively in Europe and attended many Elderhostels.  Gene was passionate about learning and was an avid reader.  Her greatest joy; however, came with time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gene is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Jean Cain of Norman; one sister, Virgie “Ruth” Bryant of Seminole; granddaughter, Kimberly Mead and her husband Andrew of Newcastle; grandson, Charles C. “Kery” Cain of Norman; three great grandchildren, Jaymes, Anna and Lilyana; and several beloved nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar J. “Jack” Coskery; her parents; sister, Ruby; brother, Charles; two infant brothers; and beloved nieces, Carmita and Ruby Jo.
