Walter "Walt" Cornwell
August 30, 1944 ~ July 9, 2020

The Services Celebrating and Honoring the life of Walter "Walt" Cornwell, 75, of Enid, will be held privately. Services and complete cremation care are under the discretion of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Walt was born August 30, 1944 to Ralph and Margaret Cornwell in Independence, Iowa and passed from this life July 9, 2020 in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Independence, Iowa and began working for his older brother as a Brick Layer. He was married to Judy Welty, and from this union came three children, Adam, Lori, and Jenny. He was then married to Verla Meggers, and from this union came one child, Travis Cornwell. On March 11, 1987, he married Dorothy Coleman in Enid, Oklahoma, who is mother to Lori and Andrea. Walt moved to Enid in 1982 and continued working as a mason, mostly commercially, but also for himself until 2000 when when he retired. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, and remodeling his home.

Walt is survived by his wife Dorothy; children, Adam Cornwell (Lesa), Lori Smith-Kramer (Mark), Jenny Kramer (Kyle), of Iowa, Lori Coleman (Andy Henkell), of Enid, and Travis Cornwell (Jennifer Jackett), of Spencer, Indiana; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren with another on the way; and siblings Frank "Ed" Cornwell, Robert "Bob" Cornwell, Millie Kramer, James "Jim" Cornwell, and Irene Butterfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Andrea Coleman; and siblings, Myrtle Hinde, Myrle Schulmeister, Martha Long, Lucille Hall, and Ruth Stevens.
