R. D. Cornelison

January 25, 1932 ~ October 4, 2018

Services for R.D. Cornelison, 86, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 9 at the Fairlanes Baptist Church, Borger, Texas with Reverend Paul Burwash and Pastor and Reverend Brad Jones, his grandson, of Passion City Church in Atlanta officiating.

Born January 25, 1932 at Lebanon, the son of Theodore and Ova J. Ray Cornelison, he died Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Amarillo, Texas.

R.D. proudly served his country as a corporal in the U.S. Army. While in the service he was stationed in Austria and was a member of the base football and basketball teams. He came to Borger in 1951 and was a transportation supervisor for Phillips Petroleum Company for 41 years. He married Ella Mae Rainbolt on October 18, 1952 in Ardmore. R.D. was a Hutchinson County Commissioner for 16 years and was very civic minded. He was very active in youth sports, 4-H clubs, the annual Livestock Show and the Rotary Club.

He loved farming, cowboying, driving trucks and playing all sports but especially tennis and played well after he was 70.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Ray; and two sisters, Estelle Mozingo and Wilma Vinson.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ella; son, Rick Cornelison and wife Pam of Clovis, New Mexico; two daughters, Janis Carder of Canyon, Texas and Lisa Kennedy and husband Ron of Bartlesville; five grandchildren, Missy Schrib and husband Lanny, Brad Jones and wife Brittany, KayCee Perry and husband Sawyer, Braden Kennedy and Rosston Kennedy; and seven great-grandchildren, Ben, Lindley and Brandt Schrib, Raygen and Saydee Perry, and Caleb and Adelynn Jones.

Serving as pallbearers were Roy Gurley, Larry Coffman, Danny Lavato, John Fisher, Theron Baker and Duane Chisholm. Honorary bearers were Jack Worsham, Ed Hicks, Eddie Whittington, Jerry Hefner, Red Isbell, Gordon Gillham, Charlie Kerr and Lindsay Patterson.
