Norma Jean Cordill, 87, passed through the Holy Gates of Heaven to meet her Saviour on Friday, September 28, 2018.
She was born at home on April 28, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas and was the third child of Leonard Reuben and Minnie Alice Franklin. She graduated from Argentine High School in 1949 and shortly thereafter married Bill Cordill. From that union were born two children, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a sixth great-grandchild on the way.
Norma was very active in school and throughout her adult life. She has been a cheerleader, cub scout den mother, a volunteer in the Salvation Army and Meals On Wheels programs in Bartlesville, a hospital volunteer in Midland, Texas, and both a trustee and deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville. Well into her 80's, she continued to serve as an usher at her church. She and Bill traveled extensively across the US, Europe, and Asia. Once while in London, she dined with a Member of Parliament and was invited the next day to attend a working session of Parliament. She was able to do all she did in her life because she was a true people person. Never shy ... but down to earth, she would often engage others by asking where they were from, and people generally responded. Most importantly, Norma was all about family and would share anecdotes about her extensive family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and her one nephew.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Lawrence Nethaniel Franklin and Ralph Vernal Franklin.
She is survived by Bill Cordill of the home, son Richard Cordill and spouse Debbie, and daughter Karen Hunter and spouse Joel. Grandchildren include Jenny Davidson and spouse Jake, Justin Cordill and spouse Lana, Jordan Hunter, Bryant Hunter and spouse Brittney, Ryan Hunter and spouse Sarah, and Rachel Bushyhead and spouse Caleb. Great-grandchildren include Lily Cordill, Felix Davidson, Heath Davidson, Robert Cordill, Olive Hunter, and the soon to be born Bodie Bushyhead. Norma is also survived by her precious niece Jeannie Chopp and her husband Joe.
Norma suffered from congestive heart failure and Alzheimer's for over 10 years. The Cordill family would like to acknowledge the tremendous care she received from her cardiologist, the late Dr. Stan DeFehr and her neurologist, Dr. Ralph Richter. In her final days she received incredibly compassionate care from Nurse Practitioner Janice Shippy and Carter Hospice Care providers Maria Wells, Tanna Kincaid, Josie Banda, and Aimee Lopez.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 5, at 10 AM at the Tulsa First Presbyterian Church, 709 South Boston Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa, Meals On Wheels.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
