Rodney Gene Corbin

Rodney Gene Corbin
August 27, 1971 ~ June 1, 2023

Rodney Gene Corbin (51) died June 1, 2023 at OU Medical Center. Rodney was born on August 27, 1971, the youngest of five children, to parents Bobby and Lillie Corbin. He attended Newcastle Public Schools from first through twelfth grade where he graduated in 1989. During his high school years, Rodney played football and ran track.

After high school, Rodney attended Oklahoma Junior College where he earned his associate degree. Then, he attended five years of pipe fitter apprentice school. Rodney worked as a pipe fitter for United Mechanical for 25 years, and he was a member of Local 344 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters.

After dating for three years, he married Chastity Chandler on September 11, 1993. The couple remained in the Newcastle community where they raised their family.

At the age of 30, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, and he lived for 22-years as a cancer survivor.

Rodney enjoyed concerts, sporting events, riding motorcycles, and traveling, but he loved spending time with his wife, sons, friends, and dog, Dan. He also cherished his discipleship group at First Baptist Church of Newcastle (FBCN) where he was a member for over 20 years. Rodney laughed easily, loved big, and his gentle demeanor and kind spirit drew people to love him.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Chastity, of the home; son Rhett and wife Madison of Bridge Creek; son Ryeland of Newcastle; mother, Lillie Etta Corbin of Newcastle; three brothers – Randy and wife Susan, Robert and wife Sandy, Russ and wife Linda – all of Newcastle; one sister, Eugenia Burton of Lindsay, OK. He was expecting to meet his first grandson, Oaklen Haze at the end of this month. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Corbin and father-in-law, Jerry Chandler.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 12th at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Newcastle. www.wilsonlittle.com
