C.E. Cope, 81, of Fairview, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 peacefully at his home in Cleo Springs with his family by his side. As per his request he was cremated and services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Cleo Springs Baptist Church. Pastor Harvey Smith will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

C.E. Cope peacefully passed away on June 24th at his home in Cleo Springs, OK, surrounded by his loving wife Sherran Cope and Daughter Kathryn Kihle. His battle with serious medical issues in the last recent years proved his faith, courage, strength, and fight. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through battles of life, his health, and always praising God for his goodness and blessings throughout it all.

He was born on September 29th, 1942, in Okemah, OK, to Carlos Eston and Jewell (Thomas) Cope. He attended many schools throughout his childhood and later moved to Tioga, ND with his mother and graduated from Tioga HS in 1962.

C.E. met the love of his life Sherran (Gilkison) Cope and were married on December 15th, 1963 in Wildrose, ND and just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. C.E. and Sherran had 2 children, Jeffrey Cope and Kathryn (Cope) Kihle.

C.E. leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, love for his family, and deep, enduring faith. He worked tirelessly in the oilfield to provide for his family. His hands were always calloused, his work ethic was strong, and provided for his family so unselfishly, he had so much love in his heart for his family, friends, and Jesus. He had many hobbies throughout his life including his horses- riding, breaking, training and cattle drives, restoring old cars, playing his guitar and riding his Harley Davidson. In his later years, he used his beautiful voice, playing guitar, and singing gospel songs at various nursing homes and church witnessing for his Savior with Sherran by his side. He always be remembered by his family for his loving, kind, and giving heart.

One of his favorite versus was “If we love one another, God dwelleth in us and his love is perfection in us”.

He is survived by his wife Sherran, daughter Kathryn (Cope) Kihle and husband Jeff Kihle of Williston ND, grandson Sheldon Kihle and his 2 children, Savannah Kihle and Wyatt Kihle and sister Retha (Cope) Watson.

He was preceded in death by his son Jeff Cope, parents Carlos Eston & Jewell Cope, his 9 sisters and 1 brother.

He will be laid to rest in Wildrose, ND next to his son at the Wildrose Cemetery.
