Max LeRoy Cook

February 2, 1926 ~ December 26, 2012

Max LeRoy Cook, 86, of Copan, died at 11:25 PM Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.

Private services will be held at a later date and cremation arrangements were directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Building Fund of the Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church, 5200 S.E. Nowata Road, Suite A, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.

Mr. Cook was born at Eskridge, Kansas on February 2, 1926 the son of Roy and Hope (Grigsby) Cook. He grew up in Manhattan, Kansas and graduated from high school there. He was married to Evelyn Jo Velthoen at Manhattan, Kansas on September 11, 1943. Mr. Cook served in the Army Air Force during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. and Mrs. Cook moved to Bartlesville in 1951 when he was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company and then moved to Copan in 1984. Mr. Cook was employed with Phillips until his retirement in 1983 as an inspection engineer. Mrs. Cook preceded him in death in 2000. He loved to fly model airplanes, being outdoors and on his John Deere tractor. He was a member of the Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church.

Mr. Cook is survived by one son, Max William Cook and wife Barbara of Pasco, Washington, two daughters, Vicky Jo Lomax and husband Ed of Copan and Olivia Deann Williams and husband Ronald of Salem, Oregon, two half brothers, John Michael Cook of Abilene, Kansas and George Bruce Cook of Topeka, Kansas, ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William Cook, Robert Cook and Richard Cook.
