Irene Bond Cook

Irene Bond Cook
November 27, 1929 ~ October 7, 2015 (age 85)

Irene Bond Cook passed away October 7, 2015. She was born November 27, 1929 in Norman, Oklahoma. She attended McKinley Grade School, Norman High School and University of Oklahoma where she graduated with a degree in Interior Design. She was a 50 year member of Kappa Kappa Gamma where she served as a Province Director of Alumnae, a past president of the OU Mother’s Club, and the OU Kappa Kappa Gamma House Mother for three years. She was a member of the OU Club of Norman, Cleveland County Historical Society, Cleveland County Republican Club, 14th Norman High School Dinner Club, 50 year OU Graduate Anniversary Committee, Sooner Club and a proud OU season ticket holder for over 50 years. She was still active in her Picnic Supper Club and her Kappa Bridge Club. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, bridge and mahjong. She worked hard, served faithfully, laughed often, cared deeply, loved her family and many close, special friends and everything “Boomer Sooner!”

Irene was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Ira T. Bond, her loving mother, Evelyn Cralle Bond, her sister Evelyn Bond Oakes, and her bother Dr. Eugene Bond.

She was married for 28 years and is survived by her three loving children: Harold Dale Cook II and wife Kathryn Browning Cook, Caren Irene Cook and Randall Swanson Cook; her three cherished grandchildren and their spouses: Stacey and Todd Stoller, Peyton and Stephanie Cook, Courtney and Aaron Dios and eight adorable great grandchildren: Kathryn, Caroline, Luke and William Stoller; Holland and Wesley Cook; Heston and Webb Dios.

A private graveside service will be held to celebrate Irene’s life with a reception to follow. Sooner attire is preferred for those attending the service.

In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, the family requests you honor her memory by helping others less fortunate, especially at Christmas, which was her favorite time of year. May we all be as giving, loyal and kind as Irene was to so many. Our loved and faithful Sooner will forever cheer us on from Heaven!
