Carl Donald Cook, 72-year-old Vinita resident passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at his home. He was born on January 20, 1952, in Vinita to Charles “Duck” Cook and Ellen Virginia (Dail) Cook. Carl was a 1970 graduate of Vinita High School, then attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He had worked for KAMO and lastly for Lowe’s in Claremore before retiring. He lived in Claremore for a time before moving back to Vinita in 2016. Carl attended Cedar Point Church in Claremore. He enjoyed collecting artifacts, watching western movies, spending time with his grandchildren, traveling to Branson and Disney World with his family, taking road trips with his sister, he loved to visit with people, never met a stranger and was loved by so many.
Carl was preceded in death by two wives, his parents, a son, Jason Kyle Cook in 2012, brothers, Dale Edward Cook, and Charles Vincent Cook, sisters, Betty Charlene “Beeb” Moore, and Pauline King.
He is survived by his daughter, Laci Cook-Wilson and husband Matt of Claremore, the mother of his daughter and very close friend, Teri, his sister and best friend Lee Walker of Vinita, grandchildren, Alex Drake, Kailynn, and Aadyn Cook, and three bonus grandbabies, Jayden, Paxton, and Kinsley Wilson, numerous nieces and nephews, including Shane Ornder and his sons, Jacob, and Keaton, Shannon Ornder Roberts and her children Shania, Kaylee, and Brylee, his loving neighbor and friend Laurie.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. October 5, 2024 in the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel.
