Steven E. Conner of Guthrie, Oklahoma

Steven was born October 12, 1938 in Chickasha, OK, to Alvin and Florene (Landon) Conner. He passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 in Guthrie, OK.

Steve spent most of his early years in Guthrie, OK where his parents owned and operated the Corner Pharmacy drug store. After lettering in multiple sports, he graduated from Guthrie High School in 1956 and received a full US Naval scholarship to the University of Oklahoma. While there he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, ROTC, and received his degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1961. Following graduation, he married Noelene Datin on January 28, 1961. Steve was commissioned into active service in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer and moved to California for his first duty station. After their first two children, Ellen and Michael were born, they moved back to Oklahoma where they had two more children, David and Scott. Steve furthered his education with a Masters in Engineering and served his country over a 20-year period in both the active and reserve forces, retiring as a Commander, USN. He then spent the next 30 years as a design engineer and national sales manager in the HVAC industry. After retirement, in addition to enjoying leisure time at their home in Holly Lake Ranch, TX, Steve and Noelene moved back to Guthrie where he was active in his church, charitable groups, and was an avid golfer and member of the Guthrie Golf and Country Club.

Steve was preceded in death by both of his parents, Alvin and Florene, his wife of 55 years, Noelene, as well as his youngest son Scott. He is survived by his three children: Ellen of Norman, OK; Michael of Dahlgren, VA and his fianc�, Irene Pirpiris of Pembroke Pines, FL; David and his wife Brenda of Kirksville, MO; Grandchildren, Nichole, Ashley, Hannah, Ryan, Lauren, and Brooke; and 1 great-grandchild Tucker.

Traditional cremation services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, November 11, 2016 at the First United Presbyterian Church of Guthrie, OK. Interment will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Thursday, 12:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. The casket will not be open at any time.

In lieu of flowers, for those who would like to donate, please do so to the First United Presbyterian Church, 102 East Noble Avenue, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044 or a charity of your choice.
