Raymond Dennis (Ray) Conkey

Raymond Dennis (Ray) Conkey
September 29, 1956 ~ March 15, 2018

Raymond (Ray) Conkey, age 61, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at home with family and friends by his side after an extended illness.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island to Marcella and Guy Conkey, Ray was the oldest of five children. His military service allowed him to travel to several countries, including South Korea, and Australia. After leaving the Army, he resided in Hawaii, then Louisiana before settling in Oklahoma. Ray always said that it was the little things in life that made life good. Ray had a life-long curiosity in how things worked: whether it was making a meal, fixing a broken appliance or using his practical, creative, intuitive nature to turn a house into a home for his family. An avid music and movie buff, history enthusiast, conversations with Ray were sincere and heart-felt.

Ray is survived by his two sons: Matthew, his wife Brittany and their three children- Kaya, Emma and Ryan- all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Alex Conkey of Purcell, Oklahoma.

He was predeceased by one son, Adam Conkey. He is also survived by his father, Guy Conkey of Englewood, Florida, Two brothers- Christopher Conkey of West Newton, Massachusetts and Stephen Conkey of Raleigh, North Carolina; and his sister, Kathleen Forgiel of Bradford, New Hampshire.

He is also survived by loving in-laws, three nieces, many cousins and a host of long-time friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Marcella Conkey and brother, G. Joseph Conkey.

Memorial Donations may be made in the memory of Ray to McCortney Family Hospice 623 N. Porter, Suite 200 Norman, OK 73071
