Dean was born September 25, 1932 in Florien, LA to Patrick and Grace (Arther) Gentry. She passed away August 28, 2016 in Norman, OK.
Dean grew up in Hornbeck, LA and graduated from Hornbeck High School in May of 1949. She was a graduate of Harris business College, Baton Rouge, LA. Dean met Wallace at First Baptist Church in Hornbeck, LA. They married, July 4, 1954 at First Baptist. They moved to Lawton, OK where Dean began her military wife career at Fort Sill, OK. Wallace was later assigned to Canal Zone. Dean and her two young daughters joined him later. She began her career as an accountant clerk in Canal Zone. She worked on base where her husband was assigned. Dean finished her career at Tinker Air Force Base with thirty years of service. She was very active in church wherever she was at. She was church pianist in Canal Zone and Colorado Springs Baptist Church. Her life centered around, God, church, family, and friends. Dean loved to sew for her daughters and grand-daughters. She learned the art of making stained glass so she could make things for her friends. Dean and her good friend Dorothy Harp worked in the nursery with babies for over 30 years. They referred to the babies as, “My Babies.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Floyd Gentry and Glenn Gentry; her brother in law, J.B. Rich; and her niece, Laura Addison. Dean is survived by her husband, Wallace; her son Gary Conerly; her daughters, Carla Howell and Debra Loeser and husband Bob; her grandchildren, Brittany Loeser, Staci Koutsoukos and husband Dino, Lance Loeser, and Dustin Howell; her great grandchildren Jaxon, Grace, and Kate Koutsoukos; and her sisters Betty Rich, and Margaret Gentry.
Funeral Services for Dean Conerly, 83, of Norman, OK will be 10:30 Thursday September 1, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 211 W. Comanche street in Norman, OK.
A visitation for Dean will be Wednesday August 31, 2016 from 1PM-8PM at Havenbrook Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6PM-8PM.
