Services for Patricia Shaull Collier, 74, were held Dec. 14, 2015, 10 a.m. at Northeast Presbyterian Church with burial in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Collier passed peacefully on Dec. 7, 2015 after a hard fought health battle surrounded by her family and the sound of angels' hymns. She was born in Los Angeles, CA, Oct. 19, 1941; however, she was reared from age one in Seiling, OK. She graduated from Seiling High School, Seiling, OK, earned a BS degree in Business Education from Oklahoma College for Women, Chickasha, OK where she was a member of the college synchronized swim team, and graduate courses in Accounting from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA and Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS.
Pat followed her husband through various assignments for 29 years in the military. She worked as a bookkeeper, accountant, and tax preparer in Virginia, Oklahoma, Kansas, and South Carolina. Pat had a strong belief in volunteerism and giving back to the communities in which she lived. She was continuously involved in many military and civilian community service organizations. She was a leader with both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She worked 17 years as a Volunteer Instructor and Instructor Trainer for the American Red Cross training Water Safety and First Aid Instructors in the USA and Europe, to include Iceland. Pat was awarded the Artillery Order of Molly Pitcher for exceptional service at Ft. Sill, OK. She was a volunteer financial and debt liquidation counselor, assistant volunteer supervisor and at Ft. Riley, KS earned the Volunteer of the Year award. She was treasurer of various organizations and clubs, a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church, and three times past Secretary/Treasurer of the Good News Sunday School Class. She was a member and past Secretary/Treasurer and Chairman of Agape Circle, former member of the Women's Leadership team, and one of the original members of the NEPC Quilters.
Pat was a voracious reader, loved to travel with her husband, was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed quilting. She was blessed with a full life centered on family, faith, friends, and volunteer activities.
Surviving her are her husband of 54 years, William P. Collier, Jr., son William P. Collier III, (Alyssa C.) of Germantown, TN; daughter Tricia C. Richardson (Alan L.) of Columbia, SC, grandchildren; Kimberly Richardson Young (Robert M.), Samantha E. Collier, Michael A. Richardson, Cara E. Collier, Cate M. Collier; niece (like daughter) Deborah R. Sivertson (Timothy L.); God Daughter Jennifer M. Castellano; and three great grandchildren, four nephews and one niece, and numerous great nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her mother, Mildred E. Shaull; grandparents, Ben Scott and Della Waldo McClellan: son Teddy Scott Collier, Brother Ronald K. Shaull, and sister Harlene S. Jarvis. Her father John Barnes Shaull died three months prior to her birth.
