Clara Imogene Coleman, 93, of Bartlesville, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 8:13 AM on Thursday, March 22, 2018.
A private family memorial is planned. Per Imogene's wishes she will be cremated. A guest book is available to sign at Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home in Bartlesville, 710 S. Dewey Ave.
Imogene, or "Imy", as her friends liked to call her, was born on April 8, 1924 in Sedan, Kansas to Charles (Jack) N. Fox and Myrtle (Jones) Fox. The family moved to Bartlesville in 1935 where Imogene attended Highland Park Elementary School and Central. She graduated from College High School in 1942 where she was crowned Queen of her senior class.
She married Bill Coleman in 1942 and worked at Phillips Petroleum Company. While Bill was in the Navy, Imogene was able to travel with him including one year in Hawaii. Of this union three children were born, Gary (who died in infancy), Sherri G. (Coleman) Hardy and Cindy K. (Coleman) Spears.
Imogene worked at First National Bank for 15 years as Executive Secretary for Mr. Doty and Mr. Allison. During the evenings she worked for Arnold Moore as a receptionist. As Imogene always liked to stay busy, she later worked as a receptionist for Spears Travel for 16 years until her retirement.
Imogene is survived by her children, Cindy Spears and her husband, Gary, and Sherri Hardy and partner, Ronnie Kirsch. She is also survived and blessed with two grandchildren, Chelsey K (Spears) Ketcher and husband Matt, S. Austin Spears and wife, Kodi, and great-granddaughter, Analeigh Grace Spears. She is also survived by one brother, Kenny Fox, Ochelata.
Other dear family members are her nieces, Lanie (John) Allton, Kelly Fox, Kathy Reynolds, Vicki Smith, Sandra Wichser, and nephew, Jeff Fox.
Imogene is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Gary, and one brother, Dewayne (Ila) Fox, one sister, Dorothy (Larry) Shartle, sister-in-law Martha Fox, and her beloved cat, Smokey.
Imogene never met a stranger. She was beautiful inside and out and loved by all for her gorgeous smile, positive attitude, and kind words. She always overcame adversity with such amazing strength and courage - she was one tough lady! Imogene will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals On Wheels, c/o Bartlesville Regional United Way, 415 Silas St., Bartlesville, OK 74003, or the animal rescue/adoption organization of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
