Rodney Neil Cole

Rodney Neil Cole
November 6, 1943 ~ December 30, 2021

Neil Cole, 78 year old Mooreland resident, passed away December 30, 2021 in Woodward. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 19, 2022 in the Mooreland First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Rodney "Neil" Cole was born on November 6, 1943 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Lester and Margaret (Marczynski) Cole. He lived in the Bloomfield area until he was 3 and then moved to Mooreland when his parents purchased the laundromat. He attended Mooreland schools and graduated from Mooreland High School in 1962. Neil was inducted into the United States Army Reserves in 1964 and served his country until being honorable discharged in 1970.

Neil was united in marriage to his best friend and sweetheart, Janelle Spake on September 17, 1988 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home in Mooreland and have lived there since that time. Neil’s father started teaching him to do concrete work, plumbing, and building houses at an early age. He was self employed for 35 years in home construction and then worked for Allied Custom Gypsum until his retirement. Neil also helped Janelle in her home daycare. The daycare kids were a big part of their life. Neil loved to encourage the kids and make them laugh.

Neil was a member of the Quinlan United Methodist Church. He was like his grandad Frank Marczynski when it came to gardening. In March he would always till up his garden making sure to have his potatoes in the ground. Last year he harvested over 300lbs of potatoes. He loved to share his garden produce with others. He liked to cook and can. His angel food cake will be missed by all his Longdale friends. Neil and Janelle made a mission project of cooking and delivering meals to those who were sick or unable to cook. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, square dancing, playing pitch and any other card games.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Darrell Cole and Larry Cole, sister Marie (Jackson) Loomis, brothers in law JC Jackson and Wes Loomis.

Neil is survived by his wife Janelle Cole of the home; family members: Marvin and Linda Navratil; Trent and Misty Bischoff and their children: Holden, Spencer and Parker; Darren and Rita Navratil and their children: Nick, Zach and Carter; sister in law Carol Schwake and husband Richard; special nieces: Denise Clark and Jillian (Spake) Phillips; other nieces and nephews, lots of cousins and hundreds of friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Quinlan Christian Women, Mooreland Methodist Women, or Fargo United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the donations.
