Larry Gene Cole

January 29, 1940 ~ January 18, 2015

Larry Gene Cole, 74, of Kiowa, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at McAlester Regional Health Center.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Bishop Funeral Service.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Kiowa with Rev. Clarence Brinkley officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Kansas. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

Larry was born January 29, 1940 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Carl and Martella (Thomas) Cole. He joined the Army in September of 1958 and served his country for two years.

Larry moved to Kiowa in July of 1987. He and Barbara started Larrys Auto and Truck Sales and Salvage three miles north of Kiowa on Hwy 69. They ran the salvage and auto sales till retiring in 2007.

Larry enjoyed going to swap meets and working on and restoring old cars, especially 1955, 56 and 57 Chevys.

He attended First Baptist Church of Kiowa and loved his church family and fellowship. He also liked going to Kiowa Sr. Citizen’s Center and playing dominos every morning. Larry was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan.

He is survived by his wife: Barbara Forrester of the home; children: Larry Todd Cole and wife, Kim of Haskell, Tony Cole of Tulsa, Anita Russell of Tulsa; step-children: Rhenda Crippen and husband, Jamie of Langley, Steven Allen of Burlington, Kansas.

Also, his siblings: Sally Cole of Claremore, Leota Shouse of Royse City, Texas, Tom Gaylor and wife, Mary of Murrieta, California, Sue Putnam of Murrieta, California, Phil Gaylor of California, Bud Gaylor of California, Donald Cole, of Missouri.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father: Carl Cole; his mother: Martella (Thomas) Gaylor; a step-mother; a step-father; and a brother: Kenneth Cole.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Cole, Joe Cole, Nathan Hammer, Lee Sartor, and Larrys Domino Buddies from the Kiowa Sr. Citizens Center.
