Lonnie Oris Cofer was born July 26, 1942 in Fairview, Oklahoma and passed March 26, 2023 at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Enid, Oklahoma, the son of Oris Angus and Margaret (Halstead) Cofer. Lonnie excelled playing high school football and it was there he would meet his first love, Charlotte Lehr. They married and of this union 3 kids were born, sons Randy and Danny and daughter Kristi. Through the years Lonnie was engaged in custom harvesting along with his dad and brother Gary at his side. This endeavor took them from South Dakota to his home on the family farm. Lonnie gained employment in his very early years at Halleren’s Produce, Fairview Sale Barn, and Arkla Gas. He and his wife traveled together as an oil and gas consultant and landman.
During the 70’s, while raising his boys, the Cofer Brothers Hampshires was developed, thus many stock shows entertained the whole family. He was an active fair board president, member of Fairview Wranglers, and appeared in a feature issue pertaining to Barcelona Cattle.
Lonnie is survived by son Randy Cofer and wife Robin, daughter Kristi Chavez and husband Tony and son Danny Cofer, one brother Gary and his wife Joan, five grandkids, and seven great grandkids.
Preceding him in death were his dad, mother, and stepbrother Dewayne Jackson.
