Clara Mae (Taylor) Coe

January 26, 1923 ~ May 28, 2005

Clara Mae Taylor Coe was born in Berlin, Oklahoma on January 26, 1923 to Nat and Lena Taylor.

She passed away in a Midwest City hospital on May 28, 2005.

Clara Mae graduated from Strong City High School in 1942.

Her family was her greatest joy.

She took a page from Will Rogers in that she never met a stranger or a person she didn't like.

She was a gifted quilter and her quilts will be enjoyed by family through the generations.

Clara Mae was preceded in death by her parents; three grandsons; and three sisters, Lena Smith, Francis Osborne, and Fleda Archer.

Clara Mae is survived by two sons, Bill and Niki Moman of Midwest City; and Rodney Coe of Seattle, Washington; four daughters, Connie and Howard of Sunnyvale, California, Jeri and Gary Shead of Midwest City, and Keeda and Jerry Melton of Midwest City; one brother, Nat and Betty Taylor of Stillwater; one sister, Dema Mahoney and husband of Wichita, Kansas; 25 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, many great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Clara Mae is the cousin of Josephine Daugherty and Joseph D. Brothers of Cheyenne.

Donations may be made to the Cancer Fund.


The greatest gift we ever received came from God. We called her MOM.

On May 28, 2005 God called Mom back home.

Clara Mae Coe was born in Berlin, Oklahoma on January 26, 1923 to Nat and Lena Taylor.

Her life was her love for her children and grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than all the grandkids running around the house.

Some say that when God sent Angels down they stayed with Clara.

She was like Will Rogers. She never met a stranger.

Clara would open her front door to anyone, anytime, day or night.

She was also a very gifted quilt maker.

Clara's dad was a state senator from Lookeba, Oklahoma who is credited with having the Redbud tree designated the official state tree and the scissor tail flycatcher, the state bird.

Clara is preceded in death by her parents; three grandsons, Jackie Wayne Shead, Brett Dean and James Dean; son in law, Jimmy Dean; and three sisters, Lena Smith, Frances Osborne and Fleda Archer.

She is survived by two sons, Bill Moman and wife Niki of Midwest City; Rodney Coe of Seattle, Washington; four daughters, Connie Clements and husband Howard of Sunnyvale, California; Jeri Shead and husband Gary of Midwest City; Jackie Gray and husband Richard of Midwest City; and Keeda Melton and husband Jerry of Midwest City; brother, Nat Taylor of Stillwater; sister, Dema Mahoney of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Travis and Meredith Moman, Brant and Mindy Moman, Sherry and Lee King, Niki and Bobbie Parton, Jeremy and Traci Gray, Nancy and Robert Percyda, Stephanie Glenn, Rodney and Shelly Glenn, Shirley and Scott Ash, Jessica and Eric Scholtz, Nick Garrison, Jerry Melton, Jr., Ronnie Melton, Laura Melton, Mike Gray and Sarah Kaufman; and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Clara is with the one true God of Israel and will be missed so much by her family till we see her again.

The family will have private family services. Donation can be made to Cancer Society.
