Bobby Duane Codding, 93, of Copan, OK, passed away on January 1, 2023. Bobby was born in rural Dewey, OK, on November 17, 1929, to George Codding and Hazel (Fetters) Codding.
Bobby and his two siblings, Dolores and Glen, were raised in the Copan vicinity and attended Copan Public School. During their teen years Bobby and Glen enjoyed playing music and Dolores loved dancing. He had a passion for Texas swing music. On August 17, 1959, he married Janice Sharp, they had two daughters, Terry and Patty. They divorced in 1980.
Bobby wore many hats for work. He worked on several different oil fields around the area as a pumper and driller. He did custom hay baling for several ranch in the area for many years. Along with his father-in-law, Raymond Sharp, they built and ran their own water well drilling rig. On October 16, 1967, he went to work for Reda Pump where he worked as a welder until he retired July 1, 1989. At the same time, he worked all these jobs he along with his father and brother ran cattle on the family farm until Copan Lake was built. He also had his own herd of Angus cattle he was so proud of. His retirement years were spent fishing with family and friends. He loved spending time with Patty and the horses and attending his grandchildren’s school, 4-H or sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Hazel; sister, Dolores Kimbley; and brother, Glen Codding.
He is survived by daughter Patty and husband Larry Underhill, of Copan; daughter Terry Foreman, of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Also survived by: four grandchildren; Terry Codding, Tera Bryant, Yvonne Ogden and husband Scott, and Brian Underhill: five great-grandchildren; Alex Ogden, Louis England, Jacob Bryant, Andrew Ogden and Charlotte Underhill.
