Shirley Lee (Jones) Cochran
June 7, 1927 ~ May 31, 2018

Shirley Lee Cochran, age 90 and longtime resident of Bartlesville, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018.

Shirley Lee Cochran was born on June 7, 1927 in Caney, Kansas. She was the daughter of Herbert William Jones and Dorothy Ellen Mitchell. She was raised in the Caney, Kansas community before moving to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She received her formal education in the Caney, Kansas and Bartlesville, Oklahoma area school districts.

On July 25, 1943, Shirley and Myrle were united in marriage in Bartlesville. They were married 72 years with four children.

Shirley was a longtime member of Labadie Heights Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, played the piano and was the church secretary. She registered people to vote for many years. Shirley would shine the light of the Lord to anyone who crossed her path. She was the most loving caregiver for all of her family and friends.

Survivors include: two sons, Myrle Lee Cochran and his wife, Brenda, of Bartlesville; William T. Cochran and his wife, Cheryl, also of Bartlesville; one daughter, Mary Beth Lindley, of Vian, Oklahoma; son-in-law Jim Madden and his wife Nancy, of Bartlesville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Dorothy Jones; husband, Myrle Cochran; daughter, Marthe Ellen Cochran; two brothers Herbert Jones and Harold Jones; and one sister, Georgia Ann Spence.

Memorial services for Shirley will be held on Saturday, June 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Labadie Heights Baptist Church. Rev. Sherman Jaquess will be the officiant.
