Arthur George Cockran, 83, passed away in Pampa, Texas, Sunday, March 15, 1970.
Mr. Cockran was born June 20, 1887 in Georgia. His father Greenwood Cockran and his mother was the former Georgia Ann Evans. He married Hattie Elizabeth Crook in 1914 in Georgia.
Mr. Cockran had lived in the Allison area for the past 40 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Allison and Masonic Lodge No. 966 in Pampa, Texas.
Survivors are two daughters: Mrs. Jewel Mae Jones of Wheeler, Mrs. Ruth Wright of Reydon; one brother, Rufus Cockran of Fairmont, Georgia; 9 Grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Wife in 1930 and by his parents and 6 brothers and sisters.
Services were held in the Allison Baptist Church Tuesday, Marh 17, 1970, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Bennie Langley of Wheeler and Rev. Ronnie Chadwick of Allison, officiated. Burial services were in Zyback Cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
Pall bearers were Earnest Begert, L.L. Jones, Allen Reynolds, Bob Markham, Rex Miller and Melvin Helton. Honorary pallbearers were Millard Donaldson, Bill Begert, A.E. Dillon, Virgil Helton, Lee Kiker, and Lester Levitt.
