Jerry Lee Close was born March 21, 1972 to Bruce Close and Carolyn (Polter). He passed away following an accident July 1, 2021 in Oklahoma City at the age of 49.
Jerry grew up West of Cheney, Kansas on a farm. His teenage years were spent in Yukon where he met and later married Christy (Winkelman), the love of his life. Jerry was a giving person and never met a stranger. On many occasions he went without something for himself so he could give to someone in need. Jerry was loved by everyone, especially his Davenport friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Carolyn; wife of 25 years, Christy Close; father-in-law, Elva Burrows; brothers-in-law, Dale Burrows, Christopher Winkelman; sister-in-law, Myrna Burrows.
Survivors include his brothers, Michael Close and his wife Shawna Wilson of Perry, Jeff Close and his wife Julie of Wichita; sisters, Brandy Miranda and her husband Juan of Florida, Nicole Close, Ashley Martin, Samantha Guerra; mother-in-law, Peggy Burrows of Davenport; sisters-in-law, Karen Hart, Angela Crary and her husband John, Katy, Emmy, and Krissy Burrows; brothers-in-law, David Burrows, Jeffrey Burrows; along with many nieces, nephews, other family, and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Davenport. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
