Ruth Ann Clopp, 81, of Copan, Oklahoma started her heavenly walk on January 20, 2025. She was a devoted and loved daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, teacher, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ruth was born in Wann, Oklahoma on May 22, 1943, the 7th of 12 children born to Bob and Dorothy Smith. As a child, Ruth attended Copan schools where she was active in sports. After graduating high school in 1961 she met and fell in love with Don Clopp. Don and Ruth were married May 31, 1962, and quickly started a family. Over the next few years, Ruth became a loving mom to 3 very lucky children.
In 1977, while still raising her children, Ruth embarked on her next adventure and went to college. In just 3 years Ruth earned her college degree in elementary education, with high honors, from Bartlesville Wesleyan College. After graduation, she became Mrs. Clopp to many students at Copan Schools. She was a naturally intuitive teacher who could always be counted on to help any student do their best. Over more than 20 years, Mrs. Clopp changed the lives of hundreds of 2nd and 3rd grade students, while also setting up a chess club for Copan elementary students and teaching oil painting to many children in the Copan gifted education program.
While working to shape the lives of countless students, Ruth finished raising her own children and earned money to help pay for their educations. After her children started families of their own, Ruth became Grandma, or sometimes "Grams". She was blessed with 7 grandchildren and eventually 9 great-grandchildren to love and cherish. Ruth's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world and she enjoyed spending quality time with each one making sure to spoil them. After many successful years, Ruth retired from teaching and was able to spend even more time being "Grams".
Despite all the shoes she filled, Ruth was able to enjoy many of her passions. She loved to oil paint, learning in the 1980's first from classes and then from painting shows that she would record. She loved being outdoors while camping, gardening, landscaping, golfing and having long talks on her porch. Ruth loved the Lord and attended First Baptist Church of Dewey where she found great joy in supporting the youth group, especially through meals.
After nearly 50 years of marriage, Don passed away in 2012.
Ruth is survived by her three children, Danny Clopp and wife Lisa, Teresa Underhill and husband Kevin, and Christopher Clopp and wife Lynda. Ruth leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Kristin Weilert and husband Adam, Courtney Burke and husband Tyler, Lacy Hamilton and husband Tyler, Justin Underhill, Matthew Underhill and wife Jimmre, Kristina Lambert, Abigail Scionti and husband Richard. Ruth also leaves 9 great-grandchildren, Paisley, Addison, Payton, Tegan, Callie, Jentry, Kane, Jude, and Emaline.
