Evelyn Nadine (Jarrell) Orgain Clay

Evelyn Nadine (Jarrell) Orgain Clay
March 30, 1927 ~ March 23, 2018

Evelyn Nadine Jarrell Orgain Clay, 90, of Elk City, left us to be welcomed at the Gates of Heaven on Friday, March 23, 2018.

Nadine was born in Dill City, OK in a farm house to Thomas Jackson and Maudie Ester (McKillip) Jarrell on March 30, 1927. She attended Foss High School and graduated in 1945. In 1951, Nadine moved to Medford, Oregon where she worked in a pear packing plant and a Grade A dairy farm. In 1955, Nadine’s life was complete when she welcomed her only child, Kervin Orgain. In 1961, they moved to Canute, OK where she raised Kervin. Nadine never missed a basketball game and always enjoyed watching her boy play ball. In 1969, Nadine began working in the Elk City Plant Farm on N. Randall, later in 1972, she purchased the plant farm. She loved greeting her customers and helping the people of Elk City. After nearly 28 years, Nadine sold the Elk City Plant Farm.

In the 1970’s, Nadine found her true passion, quilting and crocheting. She touched the lives of many people with her smile and love of quilting. She spent thousands of hours working with the point of a needle. She loved making baby quilts for her great grandchildren, themed quilts for her grandchildren and customizing however anyone would like them. If you were blessed to receive one of her pieces, cherish it forever.

Nadine’s pride and joy was her family. As they were growing up, she taught Mindy and Kandi the importance of how to treat others, her love of music, the joy of singing, the art of sewing, and when they are lucky - a green thumb. Giving hugs to Alex and all her great-grand babies always warmed her heart and made her day. She loved and appreciated how dedicated Kandi was to her; Kandi would make her favorite eggs every morning, visit with her, and provide care for her daily. She loved her son Kervin and his wife Mary, immensely and enjoyed watching the OKC Thunder with them any chance she got.

Cherishing her memory is her son, Kervin Orgain and his wife, Mary of Elk City, OK; two granddaughters Mindy Garcia and her husband Alex of Edmond, OK; Kandi Trejo and companion Gary Brackett of Elk City, OK; four great-grandchildren, Alexia, Vincente, Cristiano and Ryder Garcia; 2 brothers Kenneth Jerrell and Ray Jarrell, both Stratford, OK; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Maudie Jarrell, siblings, Clarence and wife Juanita “Patsy” Jarrell, Mildred and Orlan Church, LaVerne and Willis Stroud, Corine and Coy Jeter, Wanelda and Joe Parrish, sister-in-laws Jewell Jarrell and JoAnne Jarrell, and special niece LaVena Herron.
