Kenneth LeRoy Clark

Kenneth LeRoy Clark
February 20, 1944 ~ March 10, 2023

Kenneth LeRoy was born February 20, 1944, to Mildred (Critchfield) and Claude D. Clark in Penokee, Kansas. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 10, 2023 at the age of 79 years and 18 days. Although he was faced with insurmountable health challenges, he never lost his sense of humor and engaging spirit.

He grew up in Morland, Kansas, with his two brothers where his claim to fame was being a member of an undefeated eight-man state championship football team and a Golden Gloves boxer.

In 1964 Kenny married the love of his life, Donna Hoopes, thanks to a divinely orchestrated blind date. Kenny and Donna moved to Alva in 1964 after letting destiny decide their new home when Kenny closed his eyes and put his finger down on a U.S. map. He never doubted this decision to move to Alva and found it to be the perfect place to raise their two children, Brian and Lynette, and spend the rest of his life.

Kenny became well acquainted in the Alva community as the long-time owner of the Palace Barbershop, Charter Member of the Moose Lodge, long-term member of Lions Club, Friends Church, Card Club, Senior Nutrition Board, Salt Fork Square Dancers and Cemetery Board. Nearly every day, Kenny could be found at 818 or McDonald's sharing entertaining stories, jokes and conversations with his dear friends.

Anyone who stepped in Kenny's barbershop or met him, became quickly aware of his outgoing personality, keen sense of humor, generous nature and love of people. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Victor and Darrell.

He is survived by Donna, a loving wife of 59 years in May, a son, Brian Clark (wife Lisa), and a daughter, Lynette Brown (husband Jimmy), grandchildren: Taylor Wilson (husband Wade), Trevor Clark, Brendan Brown, Austin Clark, Raegan Brown and two great-grandchildren Kasen and Kally Wilson.

Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to Friends Church or Traditions Health Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on March 15, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Wharton Funeral Chapel with Paul McCord officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony, Kansas. Online condolences may be made at http://www.whartonfuneralchapel.com.
