The beloved mother of Tony, Mark, Brian, Matt and Mike Choate departed this world on Sunday, April 19, 2020, leaving behind a hole in our hearts. “Momma Choate," as she was affectionately known to many, passed peacefully at her residence in Fairfax, Oklahoma surrounded by her family. She was 59 years of age.
A time of visitation and viewing will be held on Monday and Tuesday, April 27 and 28, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home Chapel, please keep in mind the restrictions of 10 people gathered at one time. Cremation will follow under the care of Hunsaker Wooten.
Debra “Debbie” Gail (Homan) Choate was born on Sunday, January 29, 1961 to loving parents Bob Neal and Cora Ilene (Standridge) Homan. Growing up she attended schools and received her education in the Oklahoma City area.
Later, Debbie and Harold Beckham Choate were united in marriage. The couple shared 28 blessed years together. During this time, they raised five strong sons: Harold Anthony “Tony”, Mark Nicholas, Brian Edward, also twins Matthew Scott and Michael Neal Choate. Their family continued to grow when as adults the boys remained close to home while raising their own families.
Debbie spent several years working at local restaurants before going to work at Woodland Public Schools. She loved her work in the school cafeteria, especially seeing all the kids and answering to Momma Choate as well as 'Ole Deb. Mom was devoted to her sons, working hard to take care of them, doing her best even when times were tuff.
As you may imagine with five boys, there was never a dull moment in the Choate home. Debbie loved watching all her boys and later her grandchildren on the playing fields. She was a sports enthusiast and loyal Woodland Cougar fan, cheering on each boys’ teams throughout their school years at Fairfax. You didn’t have to wonder if mom was at the football game or any sporting event, someone was always saying, “Choate, your mom's here!" As a proud mother, she loved watching all her boys grow into men and unrivaled in all they accomplished.
Her favorite color was blue. Her house was filled with countless knick-knacks, an enormous collection of stuffed animals and various pig statues. She also adored her live fur babies which included cats, dogs and one unique pig named “Bob” who followed her everywhere inside and out. Bob was like one of the “boys” and slept most nights on the couch.
Debbie leaves behind her cherished sons and their wives, Tony of the home; Mark (Tammi) of Bartlesville; Brian of Hominy; Matthew (Tiara) of Ponca City and Michael (Shayna) of Ponca City. Her 23 beautiful grandchildren: Zach Choate, Sarah Story, Kaidon Wald, Avareigh Wald, Victoria Burnett, Alyssa Choate, Steven Choate, Hannah Choate, Maddison Choate, Aaron Choate, Faith Choate, Love Choate, Bradley Shepard, Lakota Choate, Cheyenne Choate, Mason Choate, Maddox Choate, Trevor Wardlow, Taitum Wardlow, Jaxon Choate, Jazmin Choate, Cora Choate and Emmett Choate. One precious great-granddaughter, Carter Burnett. Her special furious feline, “Kitty Kitty” of the home. Her dear brother, Charles (Karen) Glendenning of Pawhuska and many cousins, other extended family and forever Fairfax friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Andrew Lincoln Standridge and Mary A. (Chisholm) Standridge from the Grayhorse area; paternal grandparents, Neal and Linnie (Goad) Homan; and spouse, Leonard McKinney.
