Barbara Ann (Johnson) Chitwood, 85, of Tulsa passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2016 within the warmth and compassion of Clarehouse with her son by her side.
Born on December 14, 1930 in Bartlesville Ok to the late Roy Zachary and Edna Suzanna (Hawkes) Johnson, Barbara lived life to its fullest enjoying her family, her home, and the cool salt air of Castine Maine. An accomplished artist and interior designer, she studied at Oklahoma State University and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Tulsa.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Robert (Bob) H. Chitwood.
She is survived by three daughters, Katherine Suzanna Woodall of Vancouver WA, Nancy Elaine Ryan of Tulsa, and Amalie Ann Chitwood of Santa Rosa, CA; one son Thomas and his wife Molly Chitwood of Tulsa; one brother Dr. Charles Johnson and his wife Mary Johnson of Bartlesville OK; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 501 S. Cincinnati, Tulsa, OK.
The family extends a special thanks to the nurses, doctors and aides at St. Simeons, St. Francis Hospital (4N), and Clarehouse for the compassionate and professional care they provided Barbara.
