Sandra Gayle “Sandy” (Meeks) Childers, 68, of Blanchard, passed away on August 1, 2023, in Norman. The daughter of James Donald and Lois Mae (Moad) Meeks, Sandy was born on June 12, 1955, in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Sandy grew up mostly in Texas and graduated from Amarillo High School. She lived in California for a few years and moved to Blanchard ten years ago to make her home. Sandy has been married to Lloyd Wayne “Duke” Childers for 31 years. She worked at Best Cleaners in Oklahoma City for several years. Sandy worked for Walmart in Tri-City for the last 15-20 years. She was currently serving as the team lead in grocery pick-up. Sandy greatly enjoyed her “wine club” which consisted of her co-workers who enjoyed spending time every Thursday at the Coal Creek Winery. She loved to travel and go to the lake with her brother Ricky. Sandy loved time spent with her family especially the grandbabies. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.
She is survived by her husband, Duke Childers; two sons, Mark Meeks and wife Annetta of Wichita, Kansas and Mike Cannon and wife Rachel of Tuttle; eight grandchildren, Summer Collins, Christopher Collins, Jackson Cannon, Harley Meeks, Colton Meeks, Aubrey Meeks, Acillia Meeks, and Tyler Blackwell; two great grandchildren; one sister, Carol Stevens and husband Bill of Norman; one brother, Ricky Meeks of Blanchard; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family members and friends.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
