Irene "Boss" Chewey

Irene "Boss" Chewey
September 15, 1952 ~ December 25, 2021

Irene "Boss" Chewey was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world suddenly on December 25, 2021 at age 69 while at her home in Stilwell, Oklahoma.

She was the first born to Ella Mae Chewey (Thirsty) and Johnson Chewey on September 15, 1952. She would go on to graduate from Stilwell High School in 1971.

Irene was a dedicated working woman, employed with Cherokee Nation Industries since the early 1980s. During her employment, CNI would diversify their company profile and Irene would travel from her home to Pryor, OK to work with Labinal Aero Defense Systems, manufacturing wire harnesses for the aerospace industry. In 2006, she would continue working with CNI for an additional 15 years. Retirement was well-deserved and an option, but she wasn't ready to leave her friends and the lasting relationships she had made all those years.

Outside of work, she enjoyed spending her time with her grandkids, family, traveling and shopping at the best yard sales. Being Grandma and Granny "I" were titles she was most certainly proud of, always their biggest and loudest fan in the stands and life in general.

Irene was a long time member of Mulberry Tree Baptist Church, dedicated to providing beautiful flower arrangements and her creative talents to help with vacation bible school and any activities to support her church family. In 2021, amid the pandemic, Irene would make a decision to move her membership to Calvary Indian Baptist Church, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Here, she would assist with her creative talents and continue to grow in Christ with her church family.

Irene is survived by her children, Sonja Sanders, husband, Micky, of Muskogee, OK, Thea Sevenstar, of Tulsa, OK, seven grandchildren; Shylah Sanders, Marissa Sanders and Sampson, Kyle and Maddie Sanders, Logan Sanders and Calesa, Terrence Sevenstar, Thessa Sevenstar and Josh, Talyn Sevenstar, brother, Mitchell Chewey, of Oaks, OK and 7 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Reba Chewey and Kathy Scraper (Chewey).

Irene lived her life by providing laughter to those who came into contact with her, she was always one with a smile and to be in her presence was to share in the light and love that she contained within herself. She loved her Lord and Savior and she lived the life He provided for her to the fullest.

Funeral Service was held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 under the direction of Hart Funeral Home, Stilwell, OK.
