Alta Maida (West) Chenoweth

An informal gathering of the family and friends of Alta Maida Chenoweth, 86, of Huntsville, Ala., will be 11 a.m. today in the open air craft building near the outdoor chapel at Camp CCC Park, Perry. Arrangements are by Twickenham Funeral Home, Huntsville.

She was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Traskwood, Ark., to Alta E. and Inez Moore West and died Friday, July 1, 2005, in Huntsville.

She graduated from Perry High School in 1937. She married Edd P. Chenoweth at Christ Lutheran Church. They were married for 65 years. She and her husband moved to Enid and were active members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church until their retirement, when they moved to Park Hill, where they lived for 23 years. They also were members of Airstream, Rolling Rockers and Good Sam clubs. They returned to Perry in 2000. In 2004 she moved to Huntsville.

Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Conway of Mapleton, Ill, Nancy Smith of Frisco, Texas, and Donna Beekman of Tulsa; her son, Edd P. Chenoweth of Huntsville; a sister, Lorraine Jones Born; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, and a brother.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran School in Perry.
