The memorial service for John S. Chambers is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, in Grace Ministries Church under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
John S. Chambers was born June 7th, 1947, in Enid, OK, to Wade and Anita (Sims) Chambers and left us on February 3rd, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital. He may have left life suddenly, but he was surrounded by love.
John attended Enid High School, graduating in 1965. He met, fell in love and married the love of his life, Lindy Hutchins, in a 2-month span in early 1968. After a short time in Dallas, Boston and Hinsdale, NH, they soon moved to Atkins, Arkansas, to start their life together. The short time that they spent there on the farm with family and friends would create lasting memories that are still cherished to this day. After moving back to Enid, they started their family with the birth of their 2 children, Jonathan and Jessica.
After a short time back in Enid, John had the chance to follow his true calling, and he joined the ministry in 1982 at a small church in Perkins, OK. Then, in 1987, he moved his family back to Enid to become the pastor of Grace World Outreach. He would lead the church for the next 20+ years. He was also very active in Ministerial Alliance. John cultivated thousands of faithful friends during his time in both Perkins and Enid.
After retiring as minister of Grace, he was involved with Oklahoma Apostolic Prayer Network and Heartland Apostolic Prayer Network. He met many new dear friends in this stage of life as well.
John will be remembered for his steadfast faith among many other qualities. He was a true servant who just wanted to help anyone in need. He made friends laugh with his quirky humor and was the biggest dreamer of them all.
We will celebrate John's abundant life on February 19th at 2 p.m. at Grace Ministries, located at 2502 W. Elm. All are welcome.
He is survived by the love of his life Lindy; son Jonathan Chambers (Valerie); daughter Jessica Chambers Andrew (Tom); grandchildren Luke, Russell, Sicilei and Jonas; brother Dr. David Wade Chambers (Paul) of Airey's Inlet, Australia; sister Dr. Letitia Chambers (Peter) of Santa Fe, NM; several nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to count.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Linda Camille Chambers.
