Jean Ann Chambers ended her journey on this earth on July 20, 2023, in Enid, OK. She was born January 23, 1938, in Weleetka, OK to Richard Clyde and Sylvia Marie (Staggs) Chambers, the third of three daughters. Jean Ann graduated high school in Altus, OK and studied English and journalism in college. She loved to write, and blessed many of us with personal poetry, and prose over the years. Jean Ann married Marvin Daugherty and spent years as the wife of a football coach, going to games and keeping stats. Lifetime friends were made.
Jean Ann (Annie) enjoyed every phase of her life… adventure called often…. she hunted alligators in the Texas marsh with Katie and Bud, and she watched Shar snag a shark in the Gulf on one of their many ventures. She and Jonelle had such a great time getting lost time and time again, wherever, and being a lifelong Boomer Sooner fan, even living in Lincoln, Nebraska. She embraced the years she sat on snow piles in Lincoln, Nebraska watching OU beat Nebraska.
She danced in a chorus line with Jack Jones, kissed Elvis, and experienced sassy road trips with Patrick. She and Jim Hammett had quite a time opening Honchos Restaurant in Tulsa where she wrote and recorded commercials (thanks to Joe Riddle), and had TV appearances with Karen Keith, which Jean Ann really enjoyed; their BBQ was fabulous! When the business closed, she had to find work; enter Dean Witter, Morgan Stanley, a perfect fit. After getting her licenses, and working there 20 years, she retired and moved to Enid to be near her family, where she lived out the rest of her life.
She was strong in her faith, and whoever was around at bedtime, was reminded to, “say your prayers.”
Jean Ann is survived by her two children, daughter Cynthia Ann Daugherty Humphrey (Todd); son Ty Richard Daugherty; three grandchildren; Ashley Ann Good Nulph (Nick), Madden J Humphrey (Katy), and Morgan Kate Humphrey; five great-grandchildren; Cameron Christian Gravlee, Roman J Humphrey, Sullivan J Humphrey, Asher Ames Nulph, and Alaric J Humphrey; as well as other nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
Jean Ann is preceded in death by her parents; sister Dolores June Chambers Newman; brother-in-law David Bert Newman; sister Barbara Sue Chambers Allen; and brother-in-law Aaron Burl Allen.
