Alfred Lynn Chain Sr.

October 16, 1949 ~ October 31, 2016

Funeral services for Alfred Lynn Chain Sr., 67, Fairview, will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Fairview Nazarene Church with Pastor Ricky Chance officiating. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Alfred was born October 16, 1949 in Enid Oklahoma to Eldon Henson and Frances Lorene (Pester) Chain and passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at his home in Fairview Oklahoma. Alfred grew up in the Canton area and graduated from Canton High School in 1967. On November 21, 1968 he enlisted into the United States Navy. Alfred was sent to Vietnam where he served on the USS John R Craig DD-885 gun ship. Traveling up rivers and manning the 50 caliber machine gun, Alfred was deep in the conflict. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1972 and returned home. December 3rd of that year he married Debra Holmes. He went to work in the Oil and Gas Industry as a rig mover and traveled all over the country with his work. Al married Linda Wilbur on June 6, 1986 and raised their family.

When he was young he enjoyed the thrill of rodeo and riding rough stock, bulls and bucking horses. His love of rodeo continued throughout his life. To say that Alfred was an OU fan is the understatement of the year. He absolutely loved his Sooners and collected many a signed game ball and many articles of memorabilia throughout the years. Al and Linda enjoyed car races and tractor pulls together and he was a hunter and fisherman as well. He didnt take a lot of time to do the things he enjoyed because Al was also a workaholic!

Als greatest love and achievement were his kids and grandkids. He loved them with all his heart and enjoyed spending time with all of his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, step-dad Jerry Abbott, and brother-in-law, Lloyd McDonald.

Survivors include; wife Linda of the home, J.W. and wife Jacy Chain, Enid, OK, Alfred Fred Lynn Chain Jr., Owasso, OK, David and wife Debra Summers of Mt Vernon, IL, Crystal Dawn Chain, Enid, OK, Tabby Boo and husband Lee Thompson, Ponca City, OK, Shelly Hughey, Mt. Vernon, IL, Shawana Byrler, Colorado, sisters: Kathey McDonald, Fairview, OK, and Vera Bell of Woodward, OK, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
